Battlefield 5 is finishing up, but there's another update to come

All wars have to end up eventually-- most likely, I'm no specialist-- and it appears like Battlefield 5 is no exception, with DICE now preparing on sending it to a beautiful farm where it can live out the rest of its days simply relaxing. There will still be special events and some smaller sized updates, but it appears like this is the start of completion for the multiplayer shooter.

Chapter 6, which sent players Into the Jungle, will be concluding on April 29, however there's still one more standalone update to come, anticipated out in June. Senior manufacturer Ryan McArthur notes that the team is still dealing with the shift to working from home, nevertheless, so keep an eye out for progress updates in case things change.

While information on the last upgrade are unclear, DICE shared a screenshot of a brand-new map, which seems set in Libya, evaluating by the filename.

That's the future of Battlefield 5, but what about the series? Neither EA or DICE have hinted where it will be going next, though we do know that there are prepare for the series. In October last year, CEO Andrew Wilson told investors that the next Battlefield would appear throughout its 2022 , which starts in April 2021.

These strategies may have changed, obviously. Back in 2019, Wilson indicated that Battlefield 5 still had plenty to provide, teasing its Pacific theatre and adding that the group was considering how it could go forward. And now 6 months later it's winding down. This was likewise prior to developers wound up needing to work from house, so who understands where that's left the next Battlefield?

Suddenly, it's the previously reviled Star Wars Battlefront 2 that's had a longer tail. It introduced earlier, in 2017, and the furore over its company model threatened to bury it. Instead, it was revamped and EA set up some quite considerable changes across the board, not simply in Battlefront, and it's grown into a terrific shooter. This year it went back to the original trilogy and there's been no indicator that there will not be more to come.
